Day 1: Pickup & Hike to Old Moses Camp

Your driver-guide will meet you at the agreed pickup point or your lodge. After a short briefing about the trip and what to expect, you will travel for about three to four hours to Nanyuki. You will stop to rest before heading to the Sirimon Gate for registration and another briefing.

Lunch will be served before starting the nine-kilometer hike to Old Moses Camp, where you will spend the night. Along the way, you will see different types of plants and small settlements marking the lower slopes of the mountain. Notice how the weather and vegetation change as you climb higher. Keep an eye out for birds, monkeys, and other wildlife. After dinner, relax by the campfire if available, then rest for the night.

Day 2: Hike from Old Moses Camp to Shiptons Camp

Start your day with a full breakfast before continuing your climb. Shiptons Camp lies at about 4,200 meters above sea level. You will hike for around six to seven hours with a lunch break along the way. You will pass through the Liki and Mackinder valleys and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. You may also see birds flying over the valleys. In the evening, have dinner and rest at the camp.

Day 3: Reach the Summit & Return to Old Moses Camp

Today is the day you reach the summit. The hike begins early at 3 a.m. and takes about three to four hours. Around 6 a.m., just before sunrise, you will pass the Lower Hall Tarns and reach Point Lenana, one of Mount Kenya’s main peaks.

Spend time at the summit enjoying the view and taking photos. Then hike down to Shiptons Camp for breakfast and a short rest. Afterward, continue hiking for about four hours back to Old Moses Camp. Enjoy dinner and a well-deserved sleep.

Day 4: End of 4-Day Mount Kenya Climbing Tour

On the final day, enjoy breakfast before starting your descent. The hike takes about five hours to reach the base of the mountain. After completing the 4-Day Mount Kenya Climbing Tour, you will be transferred to Nairobi or your next destination.
