Masai Mara Game reserve is one of Kenya’s treasured protected areas found in the South west of Kenya. It was established in 1961 to protect wildlife from extinction, ranging from lions, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, topis among others from the poachers and illegal hunters. Masai Mara covers an area of 1,510km2 thus providing a vast space for animals to produce and reproduce.
The Park is covered by open savanna grasslands with rolling hills, two rivers crossing it – River Mara and River Talek that provide water for animals and also harbor the aquatic life like mighty hippos and gigantic crocodiles that always soar at the river banks.
