Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Chimp Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our company representative and safari guide, who will transfer you to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southern Rwanda. You will drive through Rwanda’s lush countryside.
If time allows, stop at the Butare Museum to learn more about Rwanda’s history. Depending on your arrival time, you may reach Nyungwe late in the afternoon or evening. If possible, take a short community tour around the nearby villages before dinner and overnight rest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe
Start your day early with breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking.
Chimpanzees move quickly, so it is easier to locate them before they wake up. Once you find them, spend an hour observing, playing with them, and taking photographs. After this, return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk above Nyungwe Forest. This 200-meter-long canopy walkway is the only one of its kind in East Africa, offering incredible elevated views of the forest. After this adventure, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali and Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali, where you will have lunch. Depending on your schedule, you can be transferred to the airport for your departure flight or dropped off at an accommodation of your choice if you are staying longer.
