Detailed 4-Day Bwindi & Lake Bunyonyi Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
After an early morning breakfast on the first day of your 4-day Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi tour, a tour guide from our agency will pick you up for an 8–9 hour journey to Bwindi Forest National Park in southwestern Uganda, with stopovers at the Equator for photos and coffee, and in Mbarara (Igongo Cultural Center) for lunch.
We should reach Bwindi in the evening, have dinner, and retire for an overnight stay as we prepare for an exciting activity the following day.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Today, we’ll connect with our distant relatives, the mountain gorillas, in the dense forests of Bwindi. Notably, mountain gorillas share over 98% of human DNA, so you may notice similarities in their actions and gestures.
We will attend a briefing at the park headquarters from 7:30–8:00 am, then proceed into the forest to locate the gorillas.
This experience may take 2–8 hours, including a full hour with the gorillas once they’re found. Afterward, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch before transferring to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 3: Whole Day at Lake Bunyonyi
Today, we’ll spend a full day at Lake Bunyonyi, relaxing and enjoying activities like boat rides, canoeing, and visiting local communities. The main purpose of visiting Lake Bunyonyi is to take in the beautiful views of this magical lake, learn its history and fascinating facts, and unwind from the previous day’s mountain gorilla trekking experience.
Day 4: Return to Kampala
On the fourth day, we’ll enjoy an early breakfast, then transfer back to Entebbe International Airport, with a lunch stop en route at Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara.
We should reach Kampala in the evening, where your guide will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight back home.
