Detailed 4-Day Rwanda Tour Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park from Kigali
After a briefing about the tour, leave Kigali and travel to Volcanoes National Park, home to rare primates like mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.
The journey takes about 3-4 hours and includes a stop at the twin lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Upon arrival, relax at your lodge and enjoy dinner in the evening.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Optional Visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
Start the day with breakfast, then drive to the park offices for a briefing. The session covers important details, including rules for trekking gorillas, necessary equipment, and allocation of a gorilla family.
Set out on the trek with a park ranger guide who will help you spot various attractions. Spend an hour with the gorillas, but the entire activity, including hiking, takes up to 8 hours. This trek involves climbing through highland terrain to reach the gorillas.
After the trek, return to your lodge. Later, you have the option to visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan culture and its connection to wildlife conservation.
Day 3: Hike Mount Karisimbi
After breakfast, prepare for your hike by packing lunch, drinking water, a camera, and binoculars. A briefing will be conducted before driving to the starting point of the hike.
On the trek, pass through different vegetation zones, including montane and bamboo forests, which are habitats for various birds and primates.
Reach the summit of Mt. Karisimbi at 4507m and enjoy the amazing views. Afterward, descend to the base camp and have dinner.
Day 4: Descend and Transfer Back to Kigali
In the morning, descend from the mountain and sign out of the park. Transfer back to Kigali City, where you will have lunch before being dropped off at the airport.
