3 Days Tsavo Wildlife Kenya Safari – See Lions & Elephants

A 3 days Tsavo Wildlife Safari takes you to Tsavo national park for 2 nights and exposes you to wildlife in this protected area through game drives. The safari takes you to Tsavo east national park and you are entitled to penetrate the inner parts of the park on the second day.

Some wild animals to spot here include big five animals, giraffes, elands, topi, impalas, great kudu and many more. This tour suits visitors who are interested in viewing spectacular wildlife and photography. Tsavo national park is widely known for hosting lions that have a dark history of killing the constructors of East African railway line in early 19th century.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Tsavo National Park

Leave Nairobi city in the morning and transfer to Tsavo national park where you will spend 2 nights. This is one of the oldest protected areas in Kenya gazetted in 1948, getting its name from Tsavo River which is the main water source in this park. The Park neighbors Chyulu hills national park and Mkomazi game reserve of Tanzania. The overall journey takes about 6 to 7 hours including stopovers. Arrive and check in the booked accommodation.

Day 2: Two game drives in the park

Have two main game drives while in this savannah conservation area – morning and evening game drives. Both game drives allow one an opportunity to spot special Tsavo lions also known as the man-eaters, that came to be popular during the construction of East African railway line. This will precede a delicious buffet breakfast and the search will begin with the help of a park ranger guide and your safari driver guide.

There will be a lot to explore and among them are the beautiful scenery, wild animals such as zebras, lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, rhinos, impala, kudu, cheetahs, elands and much more. The Park is home to over 500 bird species, but those easily spotted include the African finfoot, golden pipit, anhinga rufa, etc. This day will be amazing with an optional picnic lunch.

Day 3: Head back to Nairobi city. Optional city tours

Leave Tsavo national park in the morning with a short game drive and immediately transfer to Nairobi, a journey that takes about 5 to 6 hours of drive. On arrival, you will head for lunch followed by a short city tour where you will visit notable places like national museum, art and gallery centre, local Masai markets, etc.

Be dropped at an agreed point – either the hotel or airport for your flight and this will mark the end of a 3 days Tsavo wildlife tour.
