Detailed 3-Day Masai Mara Budget Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
On your first day, your driver-guide will meet you at the agreed meeting point. After a short briefing about the tour, you will begin your journey south toward the Masai Mara Reserve.
Along the way, you will see Masai herdsmen tending to their cattle and others selling handmade crafts by the roadside. You will stop for lunch in one of the towns before continuing the journey. When you arrive at the Masai Mara Reserve, check in at your accommodation, have lunch, and rest after the long drive.
Day 2: Game Drive & Masai Community Visit
Start your day with breakfast before heading out for a morning game drive. Your guide will brief you about the day’s plans before you set off. The Masai Mara is rich in wildlife, and with the help of a park ranger who knows the area well, you will have great chances to see large herds of wildebeests crossing between the Masai Mara and Serengeti National Park.
You will also see giraffes, lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and other animals. After about five to six hours of game viewing, return to your lodge for lunch and prepare for your afternoon visit to the Masai community.
In the afternoon, visit a nearby Masai village where you will enjoy traditional dances, learn about their clothing, taste local food, and listen to stories about their way of life. The Masai are known for their tall height, colorful attire, and herding culture. Their main meal is Ugali, often served with raw milk. After the visit, return to the lodge for dinner and rest before your journey back to Nairobi.
Day 3: Return from Masai Mara to Nairobi – End of Tour
On your final day, wake up at your preferred time, have breakfast, and begin your drive back to Nairobi. Stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint near Narok town to take photos before continuing to Nairobi. If time allows, you may enjoy a short city tour before your departure.
