This 3-Day Masai Mara Budget Safari gives you a chance to explore the beauty of Kenya. Masai Mara Reserve is in the southern part of Kenya. It is home to large numbers of wildebeests that migrate from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania to Masai Mara and back.
This budget safari includes two main activities: game drives and visiting Masai communities. You will enjoy cultural dances, learn about their dress, listen to stories, and see how they live. On the game drives, you will see well-known animals like lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, and millions of wildebeests.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
On the first day, your driver guide will meet you at an agreed point. After a quick briefing about the tour, you will start your journey south to Masai Mara Reserve.
Along the way, you will see tall Masai men herding animals and others selling crafts. There will be a stop for lunch in a town of your choice. When you arrive at Masai Mara Reserve, check into your accommodation, have lunch, and rest after the long trip.
Day 2: Game drive and Masai community visit
Start the day with a good breakfast, then prepare for a wildlife game drive. Before the drive, you will have a short briefing about the day’s plans. Masai Mara is home to many animals. With an armed park ranger who knows the park well, you will see large groups of wildebeests moving between Masai Mara and Serengeti National Park.
You will also spot giraffes, lions, elephants, and other animals. After a 5 to 6-hour game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and prepare for the visit to the Masai community.
After lunch, visit a nearby Masai village. Here, you will enjoy cultural dances, learn about their dress, taste traditional food, and hear about their way of life. Masai people are tall herders with a unique dress style. Their main food is Ugali served with raw milk. After this experience, return to the lodge for dinner and rest before your trip back to Nairobi the next day.
Day 3: Depart from Masai Mara to Nairobi — End of tour
On the last day, wake up at your own time, have breakfast, and start your journey back to Nairobi. On the way, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint near Narok town to take photos. Continue to Nairobi, where you may take a short city tour if your departure time allows.
