Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda, home to mountain gorillas. The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours.
You will stop at the Equator for photos and have lunch in Mbarara District. After lunch, continue your journey and reach Bwindi in the afternoon. Check in at your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Start early and go to the park headquarters by 7:30 am for a briefing before gorilla trekking. The activity can take between 2 and 8 hours, including one hour spent with the gorillas once you find them.
Walk through the forest with your ranger guide as you look for a gorilla family. When you meet them, spend time watching them, taking photos, and learning about their behavior. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and rest.
Day 3: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, cross the border into Rwanda and go for a short Kigali city tour. Visit important places, local markets, and have lunch at the famous Hotel Rwanda. After lunch, drive to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze. Check in at your lodge and relax in the evening.
Day 4: Climb Mount Karisimbi
After breakfast, begin your hike up Mount Karisimbi, one of the highest peaks in the Virunga Mountains. The climb takes about six hours through the Bisoke trail, reaching an altitude of around 3,700 meters above sea level.
You will camp halfway up the mountain for an overnight stay as you prepare to reach the summit the next morning.
Day 5: Complete Your Hike and Descend
Wake up early for breakfast and continue climbing to the summit of Mount Karisimbi. From the top, you will enjoy clear views of Mount Nyiragongo and Mount Nyamuragira in the distance.
