Detailed 5-Day Uganda Gorillas & Karisimbi Climbing Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this day, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda, home to Uganda’s gorillas. The drive takes approximately 8–9 hours by road.
You will stop at the equator for photo opportunities and have lunch in Mbarara District.
After lunch, continue your journey to Bwindi, arriving late in the afternoon.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today, you’ll bond with gorillas in the forests of Bwindi. The activity lasts 2–8 hours, including a close encounter with these primates for 1 hour.
Arrive at the park headquarters by 7:30 am for a briefing before heading into the jungle to find the gorillas.
Once located, you’ll have time to take photos and observe them in their natural habitat.
Day 3: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today, you’ll enjoy a brief Kigali City Tour, followed by lunch at the iconic Hotel Rwanda. After lunch, transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze.
Day 4: Climb Mount Karisimbi
On the fourth day of your safari, begin your ascent of Mount Karisimbi. The climb takes approximately six hours via the Bisoke trail, reaching an altitude of 3,700m above sea level.
You’ll camp halfway up for an overnight stay, preparing to reach the summit the following day.
Day 5: Climax Your Hike and Descend
Rise early for breakfast and complete your hike to the summit. At the top, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira.
Afterward, descend the mountain, enjoy a late lunch in Kinigi, and transfer to Kigali for drop-off at your preferred accommodation or departure.
