Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park from Kigali
Meet your driver guide who will give you a briefing about this exciting tour to Kahuzi-Biega National Park. You will travel straight to the Democratic Republic of Congo and visit Kahuzi-Biega, a well-known protected area that is home to the rare and threatened eastern lowland gorillas.
The park includes two mountains, Mt. Kahuzi and Mt. Biega. As the name shows, these gorillas live in the lowland areas around these mountains. After about 7 hours of driving, you will arrive and check in to your lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in the Lowland Areas
After breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park office for a briefing. You will learn the rules, dress code, basic requirements, and be assigned a park guide. Your gorilla trekking permit will also be checked.
Then the trek begins, led by park guides along with other tourists. The walk can last from 6 to 8 hours, but you will spend one hour with the gorillas once you find them.
Trekking involves walking long distances, so it is important to carry enough snacks and water. After the trek, you will return to the lodge to rest.
Day 3: Visit Serpent du Congo and Transfer Back to Kigali
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Serpent du Congo. If you love reptiles, especially snakes, you will enjoy this 2-hour visit. Here you can see different snakes, including vipers, mambas, cobras, and more.
Later, you will head back to Kigali with a stop for lunch on the way. You will be dropped at the airport to end the tour.
