The Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of the most interesting places to visit in Bwindi. It offers beautiful views, gorilla trekking, and mountain gorilla habituation.

Gorilla Families in Rushaga Sector of Bwindi
Gorilla families in Rushaga can be seen below:
- Busingye Gorilla Family: The Busingye gorilla family was formed when Silverback Rwigi had a conflict with Rumanzi from the Kahungye gorilla family. The group is named after Busingye Hill, where they live. Silverback Rwigi left with 9 members to form the Busingye gorilla family.
- Kahungye Gorilla Family: The Kahungye gorilla family was opened for tourism in 2011. The group is named after Kahungye Hill in Rushaga, Bwindi, where they were first seen. At the time of habituation, the family had 27 members. It now has 17 members after Rwigi, the silverback, broke away to start his own family.
- Bweza Gorilla Family: The Bweza gorilla family is led by Silverback Kakano. The group separated from the Nshongi gorilla family. It now has 12 members, including 2 silverbacks, 4 blackbacks, 3 adult females, 1 subadult, and 2 infants.
- Nshongi Gorilla Family: The Nshongi gorilla family was once one of the largest gorilla groups. It later split when Silverback Kakano challenged Bweza and formed his own group. The family is named after the Nshongi River, where they were first seen. It now has 7 members, though it had 18 members before the split.
- Mishaya Gorilla Family: The Mishaya gorilla family was led by the well-known Silverback Mishaya, who was famous for fighting other groups to add members to his own. The group is named after the Mishaya area in Bwindi. It now has 12 members, including one silverback.
- Bikingi Gorilla Family: The Bikingi gorilla family is currently being habituated in the Rushaga sector. This group is for visitors who want to take part in the habituation experience and spend more time with the gorillas.
- Bushaho Gorilla Family: The Bushaho gorilla family was originally for habituation but is now open for gorilla trekking. The group has 9 members and is led by Silverback Bahati, who was once part of the Nkuringo gorilla family. Some members also came from unhabituated families.
