Detailed 18-Day Zanzibar Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to hotel from Abeid Airport
Today will be for you to meet our company representative at Abeid Amani Airport for briefing and later, transfer to the hotel. At the hotel, you will have a relaxed evening with some refreshments.
Day 2-6: Explore Zanzibar city
Four nights will be dedicated for you to explore and experience the Zanzibar city. The city tour in Zanzibar/Stone town includes exploring a number of historical sites. The main tourist sites of interest in Zanzibar city include visiting the Old slave market (Anglican cathedral) – this is a coral stone Canterbury-style church of Christ, constructed right on the site of a big slaving center during the British –supported Muscat and Oman sultanate.
Nearby the Anglican church, you will have access to slave chambers in the cellars of the old Anglican mission house which currently serves as a hostel. At the churchyard, have incredible view of the concrete sculpture of slaves.
Embark on a historic walking tour in Stone town, Zanzibar’s main city. This is a prominent historical and artistic city with unique architecture dating back to the 19th century. Its architectural design reflects the distinct influences underling the Swahili culture, thus bringing together the Indian, Persian, Arab, European elements. This is a recognized heritage site and city with plenty to explore on foot including its narrow streets.
Other places to be visited include Shakti temple, spice island, Christ church cathedral, Hurumzi Henna art gallery and not to miss the nightlife in Zanzibar.
Day 7-8: Jozani – Chwaka Forest adventure
Pick up from accommodation and drive to Jozani Forest in Zanzibar for two-day primate tour. This is a rich protected area also most popular as Jozani Chwaka Bay NP, a special habitat to over 50 butterflies, endemic red colobus monkeys, 40 species of birds and diverse floral species. A guided forest walk with an experienced guide will be enjoyed while at Jozani Forest.
Day 9-11: Jozani Forest and Paje beach
After breakfast, meet the driver guide for another road trip and today, you will be visiting Paje for a beach relaxation. This is one of the best beaches lying on the Southern side of Zanzibar, a short distance off from the spectacular Jozani Forest.
Day 12-14: Matemwe Beach holiday
Depart Paje for Matemwe in the Northern side of Zanzibar. At Matemwe, you will have incredible time relaxing at the white sand beach with a chance to visit Mnemba Island, the best spot for snorkeling adventure.
Day 15-17: Beach holiday – Nungwi beach
Leave Matemwe for Nungwi beach in the far North. At Nungwi, you will have absolute relaxation holiday at the white sand beach and pre-booked hotel.
Day 18: Departure. End of tour
