Detailed 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Machame Camp
Meet your driver guide and transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park at Machame gate for a briefing with fellow crew trekkers.
Sign in, hire some porters to help you carry extra luggage, and pack the food you will use during the 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour.
Afterward, begin the hike, following the park ranger’s instructions. As you embark on the hike, you’ll pass through the Afromontane vegetation cover.
Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife species, including bird species and mammals, including primates, not to mention the diverse plant species.
The hike will take about 5-7 hours to reach the Machame Camp, which stands at an altitude of 7350m above sea level.
Day 2: Transfer to Shira Camp
Proceed to ascend on this day of your 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour, leaving the rain-forested area behind, en route to Shira camp, a hike that lasts for 5 to 6 hours.
The vegetation here transitions to a heather zone, becoming sparse and characterized by Lobelia plants.
You’ll also observe lava tubes and glacial valleys at this point, which you can enjoy while having a picnic lunch.
Spend your evening at the campsite, where your tent overlooks a snow-dusted Kibo peak.
Day 3: Transfer to Barranco Camp
Today’s hike is tougher, covering a distance of 7km and taking about 7 to 8 hours.
Ascend to the alpine desert, approaching the main Kibo peak, while the western peak becomes more clear and visible.
As in previous days, enjoy a picnic lunch during the hike, followed by a continuation through the giant lobelias in the giant groundsel.

Day 4: Transfer to Karanga Camp
Have breakfast and then embark on a hike that will take about half a day, approximately 5 to 6 hours.
As you conquer the Barranco wall, you’ll reach Karanga camp.
The Karanga camp is an ideal spot to enjoy the sunset and sunrise, offering excellent photographic opportunities.
Day 5: Transfer to Barafu Camp
Enjoy another half-day hike with a picnic at the camp.
This will provide you with ample time to relax and prepare for the next day’s hike to the summit.
Barafu camp is situated in an alpine desert area, and sometimes, you may experience strong winds.
An early dinner will be served at around 6 PM to allow plenty of time for rest and sleep.
Day 6: Transfer to the Summit, Descend to Mweka Camp
This will be a remarkable day that begins early in the morning, around midnight.
Determination and patience will be key as you strive to conquer the summit.
This trail is the coldest and windiest point of your trekking adventure.
Witness the beautiful sunrise at Stella point, which stands at 18652ft.
Continue further to Uhuru peak, a short distance from Stella point.
The Uhuru peak is the tallest point in Africa, reaching 19341ft, making it the rooftop of Africa.
Capture memorable photos to commemorate your achievement.
Afterward, descend through the desert to the rain-forest and find yourself at Mweka camp, where you will spend the night.
Day 7: Descend to Mweka Gate and Transfer to Arusha
Descend further to Mweka gate after breakfast.
At this point, you will receive your certificate and return all the hired equipment used during the hike, such as tents.
Then, meet the driver who will take you to Arusha for your flight, marking the end of the 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour.
