Detailed 3-day Rubondo Island Fishing Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Mwanza to Rubondo Island National Park
After an early breakfast at the hotel in Mwanza on this first day of your Tanzania safari tour, your tour driver will pick you up and drive you to Rubondo, a journey that will take about 4-5 hours to reach either Nkome or Kasenda village.
From there, you will embark on a speed boat ride to Rubondo Island National Park. Check in and enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, put on your comfortable walking shoes and head out for a guided game viewing nature walk on the tropical island of Rubondo, which is home to over 300 bird species.
During your safari walk, keep an eye out for birds like the grey parrots, African fish eagles, woodpeckers, among others, and animals like bushbucks, elephants, hippos, suni antelopes, vervet monkeys, sitatunga antelopes in the marshes, and more.
Return to the TANAPA bandas or Rubondo Island camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Fishing in Lake Victoria – Rubondo Island National Park
Today, you will explore the shores of Rubondo Island National Park and embark on your fishing adventure in Lake Victoria, the largest lake on the African continent.
After breakfast, meet your fishing guide and prepare your fishing equipment.
Lake Victoria boasts a variety of fish species, including the famous Nile Perch, a prized catch for every angler who visits Rubondo, as well as common tilapia, catfish, among others.
Fishing in Rubondo Island National Park follows a catch-and-release policy for conservation purposes.
Different fishing techniques used in Rubondo include spinning live and dead bait, trolling, and fly fishing.
While on your fishing excursion, take in the surrounding scenery, as there is much to see alongside your fishing adventure, such as a variety of water birds, crocodiles, hippos, and otters.
Day 3: Rubondo Island to Mwanza
After breakfast, you will depart from Rubondo Island National Park and transfer back to Mwanza city, marking the end of your 3-Day Ultimate Fishing Experience at Rubondo Island National Park.
