Day 1: A Warm Welcome to Tanzania

Your exploration of Tanzania begins the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Meet and greet our company representative, receive a briefing, and then transfer to the hotel. If time allows, you can visit the Maasai market to purchase some of the finest souvenirs.

Day 2: Trek with a Guide from Marangu Gate (1980m) to Mandara Hut (2700m)

The day’s hike to conquer the 5895-meter summit of Mount Kilimanjaro starts at an altitude of 1980m after the briefing. At Marangu Gate, find porters for hire to assist you with heavy luggage.

Before you set off, you will be registered by the Kilimanjaro National Park officials.

Begin the day’s trek through the rain-forest and camp at Mandara Hut. Enjoy dinner and retire for the night.

Day 3: Horombo Hut (3720m)

After breakfast, embark on another journey to Horombo Hut (3720m). Trek via the Maundi Crater, ascending to its rim while enjoying splendid views of the Kibo Crater. The trek also takes you through the moorland with exotic plants, groundsel, and giant lobelia. The trek will take about 6 hours, and you’ll reach Horombo Hut. Ensure that you have some snacks and enough bottled drinking water.

Day 4: Mawenzi Hut (4600m) – Acclimatization Day

After a delicious breakfast, you will have a full day to get your body acclimatized to the high elevation or have the option of trekking from Horombo Hut to Mawenzi Hut (4600m).

Day 5: Kibo Hut (4700m)

Start the day with a hot cup of tea or coffee and continue your trek to Kibo Hut. This area is situated between the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Today, you will need to have enough water, and later, dinner will be enjoyed before you make it to the summit for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Uhuru Peak (5895m) & Return to Horombo Hut

Wake up early, enjoy breakfast, and with your snacks, ascend to Gillman’s Point (5681m) along the Crater rim. The trek leads you up to the snow-covered trail until you reach the summit – Uhuru Peak. Afterward, relax at Kibo Hut, have lunch, and begin descending to Horombo Hut.

Day 7: Marangu Gate – Arusha

After breakfast in the morning, have a six-hour trek back to Marangu Gate (1980m). You will sign the park’s register, receive a certificate, and then transfer to Arusha town or city for an overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 8: Maasai Cultural Tour

Pick up and transfer to Olpopongi Maasai Village to experience distinct cultures and traditions of the Maasai people. Your cultural expedition will run until the afternoon, and then you will visit Shanga village for yet another phase of cultural interaction and a taste of prepared local cuisines.

Day 9: Tarangire National Park (Tanzania Wildlife Expedition)

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and then embark on a day of wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park. The day’s game sightings include a huge concentration of elephants, as well as other species such as spotted hyenas, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, giraffes, leopards, lions, cheetahs, and various bird species.

Day 10: Day Drive to Lake Manyara National Park

Depart Tarangire National Park for Lake Manyara National Park. You will have another guided game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, expecting to come across distinct animal species. This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, but you will also encounter other animals such as buffaloes, giraffes, and birds like flamingoes and impalas.

Day 11: Visit the Hadzabe Bushmen

After breakfast, meet the driver for a transfer to Lake Eyasi, where you will interact with the Hadzabe Bushmen. Expect to have an authentic cultural experience during the Hadzabe cultural tour. Your tour will also include a visit to the Dagota pastoral nomads and herdsmen, and later, you will return to Karatu.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, followed by a transfer to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s natural wonders. This untouched protected area is home to about 30,000 wildlife species, making it a sanctuary for a huge concentration of wildlife, including wildebeests, zebras, hippos, warthogs, buffaloes, elands, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and more.

You will encounter the majority of Ngorongoro Crater’s wildlife during the guided game drive, and you will relax at the accommodation around the Crater rim.

Day 13: To Serengeti National Park for More Wildlife

After a cup of tea or coffee, a day will be dedicated for you to connect to Serengeti National Park. Renowned for its endless plains, Serengeti NP offers an unmatched wildebeest migration experience and encounters with the big five.

Day 14 to 15: In Serengeti National Park

At Serengeti National Park, you will have two incredible days enjoying different experiences. Important experiences for you to be part of include watching the wildebeest migration (depending on the time of your visit), embarking on a big five game drive, and bird-watching.

Day 16: From Serengeti to Zanzibar

Meet and greet your driver guide, then head to Seronera Airstrip, where you will depart to Abeid Amani Airport. Arrive early and meet the driver who will transfer you to the hotel in Stone Town. Today, your area of interest will be Prison Island on Zanzibar Island. Later in the evening, you will visit Forodhani Gardens for some tasty seafood.

Day 17: Explore Stone Town (Zanzibar)

Spend a full day exploring the historical and heritage sites in Stone Town. The main areas to visit include the palace museum, slave chambers, Arab Fort, House of Wonders, and more. Afterward, proceed to the craft shops and in the afternoon, head to Nungwi beach for relaxation.

Day 18 to 20: Beach Experience (Zanzibar)

Dedicate three days to beach relaxation, with expected experiences including snorkeling, jet skiing, paragliding, or playing volleyball (morning sessions). In the afternoon, relax at the beach and enjoy the view of sunsets over the turquoise Indian Ocean.

Day 21: Departure

Wake up early for breakfast and then check out, ready to connect to Abeid Amani Airport for your departure back home. This marks the end of your 21-Day Ultimate Tanzania & Zanzibar Expedition.
