2 Days Gorilla Tour in Rwanda – This 2-day Rwanda gorilla tour offers a memorable visit to Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) in just two days, with enough time to rest.
Unlike the 1-day package, this tour allows time on the first day for a brief Kigali city tour, transfer, and relaxation, and the second day for gorilla trekking and departure.
It is the shortest possible gorilla safari for travelers visiting Rwanda.
This gorilla trekking safari can be booked in any travel category: budget, mid-range, or luxury, depending on your preference.
However, we recommend mid-range or luxury options, as there are limited quality budget accommodations near Volcanoes National Park.
2-Day Rwanda Tour Highlights
- Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
- Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Detailed 2-Day Rwanda Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our tour company representative and guide at the airport. You will then transfer to Kigali City for a brief city tour.
Lunch will be at the historic Hotel Mille Collines (featured in the “Hotel Rwanda” movie). Afterward, visit cultural villages, craft shops, and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument to honor the lives lost during the Rwandan genocide.
Later, transfer to Ruhengeri/Musanze, enjoying the scenic views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and mountains, earning it the nickname “The Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Arrive at Volcanoes National Park in the evening, have dinner, and relax for an early night to prepare for the physically demanding gorilla trekking adventure the next day.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Start the day with an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters by 7:30 am for a 30-minute briefing.
During the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla group to track and given important rules, safety precautions, and trekking guidelines.
Afterward, enter the forest with your group to begin the trek. The search for gorillas can take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on their movements.
Once you locate them, spend a full hour observing, photographing, and interacting with these gentle giants.
After the trek, return to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate.
Following this unforgettable experience, transfer back to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
