Detailed 4-Day Rwanda Tour Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park from Kigali
After a short briefing about your Rwanda safari tour, depart from Kigali and travel to Volcanoes National Park, home to the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The 3–4-hour journey includes a stop at the twin lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera, for photos. On arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Optional Visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking in Rwanda. The session covers safety rules, gorilla group assignments, and trekking guidelines. Then, set off with your ranger guide through the forest to find the gorillas.
The trek may take 2–8 hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location. Once you find them, spend one hour watching and photographing the gorillas. Afterward, return to your lodge for lunch. In the evening, you can visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to enjoy traditional songs, dances, and local crafts.
Day 3: Hike Mount Karisimbi
After breakfast, prepare for your Mount Karisimbi hike. Carry water, snacks, a rain jacket, and a camera. Drive to the trailhead, where you will receive a short briefing before starting your hike. The trail passes through montane and bamboo forests, home to birds and primates.
Reach the summit of Mount Karisimbi at 4,507 meters, Rwanda’s highest peak in the Virunga Range. Spend time enjoying the view before descending to the base camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Descend & Transfer Back to Kigali
In the morning, descend from Mount Karisimbi and sign out at the park headquarters. Drive back to Kigali City, where you will stop for lunch. Depending on your flight schedule, your driver will drop you off at the airport, marking the end of your 4-Day Rwanda Adventure.
