Detailed 3-Day Karisimbi Volcano Hiking Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Optional Visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
You will be picked up from Kigali and transferred to Volcanoes National Park, home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. This park is also known as the burial site of Dian Fossey, a famous primatologist who protected the gorillas.
The drive to the park takes about 3 to 4 hours. On arrival, you can visit the Gorilla Guardian Village, also called the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, for a short cultural experience. Learn about Rwandan traditions, dances, and local life.
Day 2: Hike Mount Karisimbi
Start the day with breakfast and then meet your park ranger guide at Kinigi for a briefing. You will register and rent hiking gear if needed before starting your Mount Karisimbi hike.
