Detailed 2-Day Mount Bisoke Climbing Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up in Kigali & Transfer to Kinigi – Hike Mount Bisoke
You will be picked up from an agreed location in Kigali and driven to Kinigi ranger post near Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes about 2 to 3 hours.
Arrive at the ranger office around 7:00 am for a briefing, and begin your Mount Bisoke hike at 8:00 am. The hike takes about 4 to 6 hours, depending on your pace and interest stops.
Along the trail, you may see bird species such as the scarlet-tufted sunbird and mountain speckled apalis. Small primates like vervet monkeys, red colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys may also be spotted.
At the summit, enjoy the calm crater lake and take photos before descending. Later, transfer to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay near Volcanoes National Park.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Transfer Back to Kigali
Begin the day with breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. During the session, you will meet your guide and trekking group. The ranger will explain the trekking rules, including keeping a 10-meter distance from the gorillas, avoiding loud noise, and not using camera flash.
Start your Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure in the forest to locate your assigned gorilla family. Once found, spend an hour watching them feed, play, and care for their young. The trek may take up to 5 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement.
During the trek, you may also see monkeys such as vervet and colobus species. After this memorable gorilla experience, meet your driver and transfer back to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
