Overview.
Akagera National Park, being the only National Park in Rwanda where travelers can encounter the big 5 animals makes it stand out from the rest of the national parks in the country. The National Park not only offers encounters of the big 5 animals but also other interesting wildlife species and countless bird species which the tourists on this trip will have a chance to observe for elongated hours.

Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park. Evening boat cruise.
Get picked up from the hotel in Kigali by a professional guide who will come along with a state-of-the-art comfortable safari vehicle. Undertake the transfer to Akagera National Park that will last roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes and on arrival you’ll drive carefully through the stunning landscapes as you view the flora and fauna of the National Park. Head to the lodge at high noon and relax as the catering team prepares to serve you a delicious lunch. Transfer to lake Ihema after lunch through the captivating landscapes.
At lake Ihema, embark on a boat cruise that will keep you occupied until sunset. Enjoy the views of the riverine vegetation on the shores of the lake and the beautiful birds encompassing the shoebills, secretary birds, scavengers, black vultures, hammerkops, African fish eagles, turacos, Abyssinian ground hornbill, black bee eaters, cinnamons and egrets. Make your way to the lodge at sundown to relax in the units, a mouth watering dinner will be served later and you’ll be accommodated overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and return to Kigali city.
You will be served breakfast at crack of dawn by the team of professional waitresses. Undertake a morning game drive in Akagera National Park that will present to you the golden opportunity to encounter the big 5 animals. Enjoy the views of the rare flora and fauna of the National Park and take beautiful photographs.
The morning game drive will make you stand a chance of viewing more of the animals since a large percentage of them is usually up in these hours especially the lions, leopards, jackals, servals, spotted hyenas, primates and birds. Transfer back to the lodge at midday to have a delicious lunch. After enjoying lunch, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Kigali city which will take you roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes. An onward journey to the airport will be conducted for the guests to get on board for the flights back home.
