Have a blast tour on this day where you will encounter the different wildlife through taking a game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. The big five won’t be missed since Akagera national park is home to these animals. Other wildlife that won’t be missed is Masai giraffes, impalas, elands, warthogs, topis and birds like the rare shoebill stork, the Grey-backed fiscal and many more. Akagera national park is the only savannah national park located in Rwanda at the border of Tanzania getting its name from the Akagera River which is one of the sources of water to this park. The time taken for the drive to this park can be about 3 hours but very rewarding with beautiful scenery.
Detailed Itinerary
Our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel in Kigali and immediately head to Akagera National Park. The journey will take about 2 to 3 hours’ drive but rewarding with spectacular scenery, and if you live music, you will have it in the vehicle played. Arrive at the park office for registration and immediately begin a morning game drive which will last for 2 hours. Spot wild animals such as lions, warthogs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, elands, impalas, sitatungas and birds like Grey-backed fiscal, long-crested eagle, the rare shoebill stork, hadada ibis, Abyssinian ground hornbill and many more.
Have lunch and head for a two hours boat cruise on Lake Ihema where water-loving creatures will be spotted such as hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles, kingfishers and many more. After the boat cruise, head back to Kigali city where you will be dropped and this will be the end of the 1 Day Akagera NP Safari.
