The 7 Days Congo Lowland Gorillas and Serengeti National Park Safari is a special trip that combines trekking to see Eastern Lowland gorillas and watching the wildebeest migration.
In just one week, you will visit two amazing places: Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R.C) for the lowland gorillas, and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania for the wildebeest migration.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour
You will be welcomed by our company representative at Kigali International Airport (KGL) and taken to your hotel. If you arrive early, you can visit important places in the city, like the Gisozi Genocide Memorial and local markets where you can buy fresh fruits.
Day 2: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park for Lowland Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, you will travel to Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the D.R. Congo. The park covers 6,000 square kilometers and is mostly covered with tropical forest. It is home to Eastern Lowland gorillas, many bird species, and other animals. The drive from Kigali to the park takes about 6 to 7 hours, with great views along the way.
Day 3: Lowland Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. The trek starts at 8:00 am and can take between 2 to 6 hours. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, watching them and taking photos. After the trek, return to the lodge and relax for the evening.
Day 4: Drive Back to Kigali & Fly to Arusha
Start the day with breakfast, then drive back to Kigali through Bukavu. You will stop for lunch on the way. When you arrive in Kigali, you will go to the airport for your evening flight to Arusha, Tanzania.
Day 5: Transfer from Arusha to Serengeti for Wildebeest Migration and Wildlife Viewing
After a morning cup of tea or coffee, you will be picked up and driven to Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. This park has many animals and is one of the best places to see the wildebeest migration.
Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
After breakfast, go for a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park. You will look for the Big Five; elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffaloes, as well as wildebeests, cheetahs, zebras, gazelles, elands, kudus, and waterbucks. Lunch will be a picnic in the wild. After the drive, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Serengeti to Arusha – End of Safari
Enjoy your last breakfast at the lodge, then begin the journey back to Arusha. You may see more animals on the way. This will be the end of your 7-day Congo Lowland Gorillas and Serengeti National Park Safari.
