Virunga national park is a protected area well known for its great Gorillas located in the North Eastern part of DR Congo. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Land at Kigali airport and transfer to Gisenyi Congo border
Immediately as you land at the airport, our well-behaved driver guide will be there to welcome you and take you to the nearest hotel for a simple meal. As you enjoy your delicious meal your safari driver guide will take you through a briefing about the safari then after the drive heading to Goma town. You will have your picnic lunch in Goma town then proceed with the journey to check in with the booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Virunga Gorilla trekking
After your first meal of the day, meet your driver guide and drive to the starting point for briefing and grouping for Gorilla trekking. You will be led by a ranger guide who will be fully armed for security purposes and head into the jungle in search of gorillas. Take note that they are only eight people who are allowed to trek with a gorilla family and this is done within only three hours. After getting a gorilla family you are given only one hour to spend in presence of gorillas as you take photos, learn their behaviors, watch how females give care to the infants and many more.
Retreat to the lodge for the picnic lunch and after a move for a nature walk and get a chance to spot other primates not only gorillas, beautiful bird species, plants which are over forty years in the wild, beautiful butterflies and others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Depart to Kigali
After an early breakfast, meet your safari driver guide and embark on your journey to Kigali. Depending on the flight time do a city tour in Rwanda and visit the Genocide memorial site and know the historical background of the country Rwanda. You can also visit the Kaplaki handcraft market and buy some souvenirs to take home for remembrance. Your driver’s guide will drop you at the airport by the time of the flight and fly back home.
