This 3 days Nyirangongo hike will start in Kigali Rwanda and finally ends in Kigali. This safari is one of the most interesting and rewarding activities in Congo. Nyiragongo is one of the few active volcanoes in the Virunga region. Hiking to the top of this mountain rewards beautiful creatures like beautiful flowers, different bird species for bird lovers, butterflies, and some primates and getting to its summit a great view of Virunga national park will probably be your first sight as other beautiful sceneries. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Lake Kivu Gisenyi and Boat Cruise
On your arrival, depending on the agreed location either at the airport or hotel our driver guide will welcome you and take you through a briefing about the safari and start your journey heading to Gisenyi. Gisenyi is located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy your picnic lunch then after having a simple boat ride on lake Kivu for the gear adventure, visit the coffee island and hot springs then after embarking on your journey to DR Congo then proceed to Goma and check in with the booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Hike mount Nyiragongo
Have your breakfast in the morning then drive to the starting point at Kibati patrol post to meet your guide who will take you through the briefing about the hike. It will take you about 30 or 35 minutes’ drive to reach the starting point from Goma. The hike usually takes 5 to 6 hours to reach its summit and hiking normally starts at 10:00 Am after briefing and all arrangements. During your hike, you will come across different amazing creatures that will provide a memorable experience of hiking this mountain. Have your dinner and stay for a night at the summit.
Day 3: Descend and drive back to Kigali
On this day you will have your breakfast at your camping place then descend to meet your car and the driver’s guide. Embark on your journey to Kigali. Your driver’s guide will drop you at the airport or hotel depending on the agreed location and fly back home.
