Detailed 1-Day Akagera National Park Safari Itinerary
Your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali early in the morning for the Rwanda safari. The drive to Akagera National Park takes about 2 to 3 hours and includes beautiful views along the way.
On arrival at the park office, you will register and start your morning Akagera game drive. The drive lasts about 2 hours and gives you a chance to spot animals such as lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, buffalos, impalas, elands, and warthogs. Bird lovers can look out for species like the rare shoebill stork, grey-backed fiscal, hadada ibis, long-crested eagle, and Abyssinian ground hornbill.
After the game drive, enjoy lunch and later go for a two-hour boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This activity offers another way to see wildlife, including hippos and crocodiles, as well as water birds like fish eagles, kingfishers, and hamerkops.
