Detailed 5-Day Nyungwe Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Explore Kigali City
Arrive in Kigali City, the land of a thousand hills. Your guide will meet you, introduce the itinerary, and start the Kigali city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, museums, local markets, and landmarks that showcase Rwanda’s culture and history. After lunch, return to your hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Kigali City to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, depart from Kigali and drive to Nyungwe National Park. The drive takes 4–5 hours, with stops for refreshments and photos. Pass through scenic countryside, small towns, and farmlands. Have lunch en route and continue to your lodge near the forest. Check in and relax in the evening.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast, prepare for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. At the park headquarters, a ranger will brief you about the activity. The trek requires moderate fitness as you walk through the forest to find the chimpanzees. Once you locate them, spend one hour observing and taking photos. You may also see colobus monkeys, chimp nests, and birds. The trek lasts 2–3 hours, followed by lunch and relaxation at your lodge.
Day 4: Nature Walk & Canopy Walk Adventure
Begin your day with tea or coffee and set out for a guided nature walk along the forest trail. This activity lets you see trees, plants, birds, and animals. The walk lasts about 2–3 hours. After lunch, enjoy a canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest, a bridge suspended high above the trees. You will get beautiful forest views and a chance to see monkeys and birds. Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive back to Kigali. Stop at Nyanza Palace, where you will learn about Rwandan culture through music, dance, and local storytelling.
