Detailed 5-Day Uganda Wildlife Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Your 5-Day Queen Elizabeth and Kibale National Park Safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala by your safari guide.
The drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park takes about seven hours. Along the way, you will stop at Lukaya roadside market to enjoy roasted meat, plantains, and fresh juice.
Lunch will be served en route before you continue your journey. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and relax while enjoying the surrounding wildlife and savannah landscape.
Dinner will be served in the evening, followed by an overnight stay.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
After an early breakfast, set off for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Look out for animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and antelopes as they roam the plains. Take your time to enjoy the views and take photos of Uganda’s amazing wildlife.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then head out for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward.
You will see crocodiles, hippos, and buffaloes along the shores, as well as many bird species, including pelicans and kingfishers.
After the cruise, return to the lodge at sunset for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park, Tour the Crater Lakes and Toro Kingdom Palace
After breakfast, drive toward Kibale National Park, a journey of about two hours.
Upon arrival, visit the Ndali-Kasenda Crater Lakes, known for their beauty and scenic surroundings. Take photos and enjoy the calm atmosphere before heading to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Toro Kingdom Palace, where you will learn about the cultural history and traditions of the Batooro people.
Watch traditional dances before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest and Bigodi Wetland Walk
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers.
You will then begin your chimpanzee trekking experience, which usually lasts 2–5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are found.
Spend time observing these intelligent primates as they swing in the trees, feed, and interact with one another.
Return to your lodge for lunch, then head to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk.
This area is famous for its birdlife, including the Great Blue Turaco, and also supports monkeys and butterflies.
After the walk, return to your lodge in Fort Portal. You may explore the town’s nightlife before relaxing for the night.
Day 5: Drive Back to Kampala
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your return journey to Kampala.
The drive takes about 5–6 hours through Uganda’s scenic countryside.
Upon arrival in Kampala, your driver will drop you off at your preferred location, marking the end of your 5-Day Queen Elizabeth and Kibale National Park Safari.
