Detailed 4-Day Bwindi & Lake Bunyonyi Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up for the 8–9-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in southwestern Uganda.
You will stop at the Equator for photos and coffee, then continue to Mbarara, where you will have lunch at Igongo Cultural Center.
Arrive in Bwindi in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest for the night as you prepare for gorilla trekking the next day.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before gorilla trekking.
The trek usually begins at 8:00 am and can take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you will spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful and calm lakes in Uganda. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Whole Day at Lake Bunyonyi
Spend the entire day relaxing and exploring Lake Bunyonyi.
You can enjoy boat rides, canoeing, or a visit to the nearby islands and local communities. Learn about the lake’s history and the stories behind its famous islands, such as Punishment Island.
The day is meant for rest, reflection, and relaxation after your gorilla trekking adventure.
Day 4: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe.
Stop in Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center, then continue to Entebbe International Airport for your flight home.
