Day 1
Today, you arrive at the airport and complete the migration process. You will meet your travel companion who will introduce you to the Land of a Thousand Hills and provide you with information about your journey. He will take you to your Kigali accommodation where you will have dinner and sleep.
Day 2
Today, you’ll meet your driver guide, who will take you on a short city tour, starting with a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you’ll learn about the history of the genocide against the Tutsis in 1994, as well as the country’s journey and transformation to date.You’ll then take a long drive to the city of Nyungwe, which is interesting in its own way, with its unique view of thousands of hills.
Upon arrival to Nyungwe you’ll do the canopy walk, which is a 90 meters high suspension bridge, where you can enjoy the view of the Nyungwe natural forest and its surroundings from the top of the trees.At the end of the day you’ll arrive at your booked accommodation, where you will stay for the night, check in, eat dinner, and have an overnight stay near Nyungwe.
Day 3
After your cup of African coffee in the morning, you’ll leave your hotel and make your way to the Nyungwe’s national forest, home to 13 primate species, where you’ll be transferred for briefing and chimp trekking. You’ll have 1 hour to find the chimp. After completing the chimp trek, make your way to lunch.
In the afternoon you’ll cross the border and be transferred to bujumbura, where you will check in to the accommodation you’ve booked and spend the remainder of the afternoon and evening at the hotel before heading home for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
After your leisurely breakfast, you will depart at 8:30 in the morning. Begin your city tour in Bujumbura by taking a boat ride in Rusizi National Park along the Rusizi River until Lake Tanganyika where you can observe hippos, birds, and crocodiles.
After Lake Tanganyika, continue with your city tour by visiting some of the city tour’s hot spots, visiting the living museum, and returning to downtown Bujumbura for lunch. After lunch, visit the Musee vivant.Return to hotel, donner, and overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast at 7:00 a.m., take a 7:00-7:30 drive from Bujumbura to gitega. On the way to Gitega, make a few stops at the Nile River source and tea plantation on the way to rutana. Upon arrival in Gitega, enjoy lunch, and after lunch, head to gishora, where you will meet famous drummers, and be informed about this world heritage site, which is not recognized by UNESCO.
Attend a sit-down to watch a fascinating show, which combines the rhythm of drumbeat with dancing, heroic poetry, and traditional songs, which lasts about an hour and a half. At the end of the show, you’ll be taken on a royal tour of the royal house, where you will see how life at the royal palace was lived on a daily basis. Check in to your hotel, dinner, and overnight.
Day 6
After breakfast at the Hotel today, you will be picked up and driven through the Nemba border and driven to Kigali where, if you have time, you can visit art craft for souvenir shopping before being dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home.
