Detailed Safari

Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali, Rwanda – Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park

Our driver guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport and begin your 7-day tour through Rwanda, Congo, and Kenya. After completing your travel paperwork, begin your 5 to 6-hour journey to Congo. Along the way, stop at the Nyanza Palace to learn about Rwanda’s history and culture.

After crossing the border between Rwanda and Congo, continue to Bukavu city. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Trekking

Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for registration and a short briefing. Many people dream of seeing lowland gorillas in the wild. These gorillas share 98% of their DNA with humans and live only on the African continent. During the 30-minute briefing, ranger guides will explain the rules and what to expect during the trek.

The trek can last from one to eight hours depending on where the gorillas were last seen. Along the way, you may see monkeys, birds, and other forest animals, as well as different types of plants. Once you find the gorillas, you will have one hour to watch them eat, play, and interact while taking photos.

Lunch will be enjoyed in the forest before you return to the lodge for refreshments, dinner, and a well-deserved rest.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali – Flight to Kenya

Your day starts early. After breakfast, leave the lodge for the 5 to 6-hour drive to Kigali. Have lunch in Kigali before catching your flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Our representative will meet you at the airport, take you on a brief tour of the city, and drive you to your hotel for refreshments, dinner, and a restful evening.

Day 4: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and brief you about the next part of your safari in Kenya. Then begin your drive to the Masai Mara Reserve, passing through countryside with scenic views, homesteads, and farms.

Make a stop at the Great Rift Valley for photos and a short break. Enjoy lunch on the way and arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Full Day Game Drive

Begin your day with a good breakfast, then head out for a 3–4-hour morning game drive through the open grasslands of the park. While luck plays a big role in what you see, you may come across lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, impalas, wildebeests, rhinos, and many other animals. The beautiful Maasai landscape adds to the experience.

After a picnic lunch, continue your game drive around the Mara River, where the famous wildebeest migration takes place every year. Later, return to the lodge for dinner, a campfire experience, and overnight rest.

Day 6: Bird-watching & Maasai Cultural Visit

Enjoy breakfast early in the morning, then go for bird-watching in areas with swamps and thick vegetation. The morning is the best time to spot birds, and Masai Mara has over 470 species. Around 47 of them are birds of prey. Look out for ostriches, sunbirds, ground hornbills, secretary birds, crowned cranes, saddle-billed storks, grey herons, great white egrets, Madagascar squacco, pygmy falcons, and more. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Maasai community where you will be welcomed with traditional songs, dances, and shown around their homes (manyattas). Watch the famous jumping dance and learn about their way of life. After this cultural visit, return to the lodge for dinner and sleep.

Day 7: End of Safari

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive back to Nairobi or your agreed drop-off point. You will have scenic stops and a lunch break along the way.
