The 3-day Burundi Experience lets you see the daily life of the locals, meet people, visit important historical sites, and connect with nature. You will visit the source of the River Nile, Karera Falls, and the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to watch a local cultural performance.
You will also take a boat ride on the River Rusizi and end your tour with a visit to Bujumbura city. This will be an unforgettable trip.
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Hotel
When you arrive in Bujumbura, you will be met by our company representative at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport. They will welcome you to Burundi and give you information about your trip.
Then, you will get into your jeep and be taken to your hotel, where you can relax, have dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 2: Visit to Karera Falls & Gishora Drum Sanctuary
After breakfast, you will drive to Karera Falls. Karera Falls is a group of waterfalls in southeast Burundi, near Rutana. The falls cover more than 142 hectares and have six branches split into three separate sections.
After the visit, you will return to the town of Gitega for lunch. In the afternoon, you will go to the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to watch a special traditional show.
You will meet the lead drummer and learn about this UNESCO World Heritage site. Then, you will watch a one-hour performance with drumming, dancing, heroic poems, and traditional songs.
After the show, you will stay overnight at Safari Gate Hotel near Gitega.
Day 3: Bujumbura Town Tour & Departure
On your last day, after breakfast, you will start your day at 8:30 AM. The Bujumbura town tour begins with a boat trip on the Rusizi River in Rusizi National Park, going all the way to Lake Tanganyika. You will see hippos, birds, and crocodiles along the way.
Then, you will visit the Living Museum and return to the town center for lunch. After lunch, a company representative will safely take you to the airport for your international flight home.
You will leave Burundi with beautiful memories of its nature and wonderful people. See you next time!
