Latest information reaching our news desk indicates that renowned American rapper Kanye West (Ye) and his wife Kim Kardashian have already arrived in Uganda.
The celebrity couple touched down in the country the previous evening on a private jet. Kanye and his wife were flown by a local tourism aviation company to Chobe Safari Lodge, a well known lodge overlooking the Nile in Murchison Falls National Park.
A Temporary Music Studio in the Wild
Currently, the rapper and his team have set up a temporary music studio in the wild, where he plans to record a new album over the next week. Tourism officials are trying to lure him into a 3 day Bwindi gorilla safari before the week ends, in a bid to promote tourism in the country. Uganda heavily relies on the revenue that comes from gorilla trekking tours, and a visit of this profile could bring significant attention to the sector.
Confirming the Africa Trip
Kanye, 41, confirmed his and Kim’s trip to Africa in a video that went live on Thursday, 11th October 2018, while speaking to the press after his meeting with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, at the White House in Washington DC.
The famed superstar was expected to release his ninth album, “Yandhi”, on Saturday, 6th October 2018, but he announced that the album would be delayed until 23rd November 2018, which is also Black Friday.
About Kanye West and Kim Kardashian
Kanye Omari West is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. He is married to Kimberly Noel Kardashian West, popularly known as Kim Kardashian, an American reality television personality, entrepreneur, and socialite. The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in May 2014, have three children, North West, Saint West, and Chicago West, who are also expected to fly into Uganda with them.
Why Uganda Draws High Profile Visitors
Uganda has increasingly become a destination of interest for high profile visitors drawn to its mix of wildlife, landscapes, and culture. Murchison Falls National Park, where the couple is currently staying, is home to the Nile crocodile, elephants, giraffes, lions, and one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging into the Devil’s Cauldron below.
A Possible Gorilla Trek in Bwindi
Should Kanye take up the offer of a Bwindi gorilla trek, he would be joining a growing list of public figures who have visited the park to see the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to roughly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, and treks there typically last a full day through dense forest terrain.
For now, the local tourism industry is watching closely to see whether the visit extends beyond the recording sessions at Chobe Safari Lodge, and whether Uganda’s gorillas will get a moment in the global spotlight this week.
