Detailed 21-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda

Meet your driver guide for a briefing, then start your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos before heading to the park. Visit the top of the falls before checking into your lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Take an early morning game drive to see elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, and antelopes. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile River to the base of the falls. Watch hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 3: Drive to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, travel to Kibale National Park, passing through villages and tea plantations with views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Walk

Join a morning chimpanzee trek at Kanyanchu. See other primates like colobus and red-tailed monkeys. After lunch, take a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birds and more monkeys.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 6: Game Drive and Travel to Bwindi

Take a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, then drive through the Ishasha sector to look for tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After a briefing, start your gorilla trek at 8:00 am. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on gorilla movements. Spend one hour observing them. Later, visit the Batwa Pygmy community for a cultural tour.

Day 8: Travel to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Drive across the border into Rwanda through Katuna or Cyanika. Arrive in Ruhengeri near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Take another gorilla trek or golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. After the trek, visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a traditional experience.

Day 10: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Travel south to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Enjoy the landscapes along Lake Kivu.

Day 11: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Join a chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest and later take a canopy walk for views of the treetops and forest wildlife.

Day 12: Fly to Arusha, Tanzania

Drive to Kigali Airport for your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for rest.

Day 13: Explore Arusha National Park
