Detailed 10-Day East Africa Primate & Big Cats Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet your safari guide upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. After a short briefing, drive through Rwanda’s countryside to Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing at 7:00 a.m. Trek through the forest in search of mountain gorillas with your ranger guide. Once you find them, spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda

After breakfast, drive across the border into Uganda. Enjoy the drive through hills and farmlands as you head to Kibale National Park, known for its large population of chimpanzees. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Visit

Join a morning chimpanzee trekking session after a briefing by park rangers. Walk through the forest to find the chimp families and spend one hour with them. Later, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community project known for birds, monkeys, and local culture. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe & Flight to Nairobi

After breakfast, drive to Entebbe with a stop for lunch. Take your afternoon flight to Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Arrival in Nairobi & Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. Stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for photos before continuing to your lodge. Arrive in time for lunch and relax before an evening game drive.

Day 7: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Spend the entire day exploring Masai Mara’s plains in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, and wildebeests. Visit the Mara River to spot hippos and crocodiles. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 8: Cross to Tanzania & Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive to the border and enter Tanzania. Continue to Serengeti National Park, home to the Great Wildebeest Migration. Check in at your lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner.

Day 9: Morning Game Drive and Maasai Cultural Visit

Go for an early morning game drive to see predators and other animals before the sun gets hot. Return for lunch, then visit a Maasai village to learn about their customs, dances, and daily life. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Drive to Arusha and Departure

After breakfast, drive to Arusha, stopping for photos and lunch along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you may visit local markets before being transferred to the airport for your flight home.
