Regardless of this history, Rwanda is a transformed country which is experiencing high economic boom. The country has walked away from any kind of discrimination with people not allowed to identify themselves according to their tribes however still having a long way to getting rid of poverty.
Genocide remains a sensitive issue with any talks about the genocide being illegal as they can resurrect the ethnicity differences.
President Paul Kagame is highly applauded for the economic and social development of the country with massive infrastructure development and taking the country strongly from the poverty grip, healthcare and other services on the forefront.
Border Situations
The common ways of entry for international travelers into Rwanda is by air – Kigali International Airport with flights that are fully scheduled. Much as Rwanda’s relationship with its neighbors may not be so perfect, Rwanda has tried to keep a moderate relationship with its immediate neighbors.
It however remains safe to enter the country by air to avoid frustrations on land borders with the border disputes that usually erupt between either Uganda or DR Congo.
Using the border from DR Congo is not advisable due to the security conflicts within the country which may not be safe for any travelers at the moment.
Safe Transport
Road structure in Rwanda is good but not to its best outside large towns and cities. This is why it is important to book your holiday tour through a trusted tour operator who will be well informed about the road structure and also be responsible for your transportation.
One can opt to use different means of transport with a good bus network between the major cities, car hire services are also available but not recommended if you don’t have any direction of a tour operator, licensed taxis are always available at the airport. These taxis are usually over – priced when it gets to tourist but trusted to get you to the hotel or any place rather than the local buses.
