Hôtel des Mille Collines – The True Story Behind ‘Hotel Rwanda’

Do you want to stay at Hotel Mille Collines? Most people know about the famous movie Hotel Rwanda. The movie, which featured Don Cheadle, shows events that reflect what happened during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The genocide was carried out by the Hutu majority against the Tutsi minority. Paul Rusesabagina, a well-known hotelier, played a significant role in saving victims at the hotel.

The hotel in the movie really exists, although the actual filming took place in South Africa. Hotel Mille Collines is still standing and is one of the main tourist attractions in Rwanda, highly recommended for visitors. It is located in the center of Kigali City. The story of hope during the horrific events of 1994 is shared with tourists who visit. During the height of the genocide, this 4-star hotel became a safe refuge for many victims.
