The Cyanika border is a connecting point between Uganda and Rwanda, located in the southwestern part of Uganda and the northeastern part of Rwanda.
The Cyanika border is approximately a one-hour drive from Volcanoes National Park and a 30-minute drive from Mgahinga National Park.
The Cyanika settlement, also known as Kyanika, is situated on the Ugandan side and is only about 10 kilometers from Kisoro Town, a popular tourist destination in Uganda.

There are plans for the Cyanika border to be rebuilt by Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure.
The Cyanika border is one of the easiest borders to cross without much hassle. However, you will need a passport, visa, and yellow fever vaccination card to cross the border.
This border is significant to both countries as it connects two key tourist areas. It is especially important for tourists who wish to undertake gorilla trekking starting from Kigali.
