Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda is accessible to seniors, disabled travelers, and people with special needs, despite the physically demanding terrain. Two main support options make this possible: sedan chairs, where porters carry visitors on a seat slung between poles until the gorilla family is found, and bamboo stretchers, which work similarly. Visitors are set down to enjoy the one hour viewing before being carried back.
Costs run around USD 400 per person, varying by weight and distance, and should be booked in advance with park authorities notified beforehand.
