Niyo Art Gallery is a special art gallery in the heart of Kigali. It was created to use contemporary art, music, dance, and drama as tools to bring change to poor communities.
The gallery was started by Niyonsenga Pacifique, a musician, artist, and former street child. His goal was to help street children like himself gain a better future and access to education.
Niyonsenga grew up on the streets but got a chance at a better life and education thanks to a Canadian benefactor named Bruno.
This support helped him build a successful path forward. Inspired by his own story, he started Niyo Art Gallery to help other children in similar situations, using art as a tool to fight poverty.

Most of the money made at the gallery, along with donations, goes toward school fees and basic needs for children in the program. The gallery also supports single mothers and children living in poverty.
Over 125 children benefit from this program. These children take part in the gallery’s activities, performing dances to entertain visitors, playing musical instruments, and creating art pieces.
