This 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour gives you a rare opportunity to enjoy two gorilla trekking experiences in Rwanda. Gorilla encounters in Volcanoes National Park are unforgettable, and this Rwanda tour allows you to meet two different mountain gorilla families in separate parts of the park.
You will spend two full hours with the gorillas on different days, giving you more time to observe, learn, and take photos. Other activities include visiting the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, exploring the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, and enjoying a short Kigali City tour.
Each Rwanda gorilla permit costs $1500, so two treks total $3000 per person. The permit price excludes transport, accommodation, and other costs.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your safari guide who will brief you about your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour. Have lunch in Kigali before driving to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze District, the home of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. The drive takes about 2–3 hours. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation as you prepare for your first gorilla trek.
Day 2: First Gorilla Tracking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a gorilla trekking briefing at 7:30 am. You will be assigned a gorilla family and start your trek with a ranger guide. The trek may take 2–8 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, spend one hour watching and taking photos. Afterward, return to your lodge for lunch.
In the evening, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda’s traditions, dances, and community life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Tracking & Twin Lakes Visit
After breakfast, return to the park for your second Rwanda gorilla trekking experience, visiting a different gorilla family. The trek may also take 2–8 hours, including the one hour spent with the gorillas. Each encounter provides a new experience as every gorilla family behaves differently.
In the afternoon, visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, located near Volcanoes National Park. These scenic lakes are ideal for bird watching, photography, and cultural interaction with local communities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Kigali City Tour & Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali City for a short city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Caplaki Crafts Village, and local markets.
