Detailed 5-Day Rwanda Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your Rwanda safari guide and company representative. After a short briefing, transfer to Kigali City for lunch before heading to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southern Rwanda. The drive takes about six hours, passing through beautiful countryside. Stop at the National Museum of Rwanda in Butare for a short visit. Arrive in Nyungwe in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk
Start early at 5:00 am with breakfast, then transfer to the park meeting point for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest. Track the chimps before they leave their nests and spend one hour observing and taking photos. Return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk, which offers views of the rainforest and sightings of birds and monkeys. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Twin Lakes Visit
After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The journey takes about six to seven hours, with lunch along the way. Day 4: Gorilla Tracking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Visit
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track with a ranger guide. Once you find them, spend an hour observing and photographing the gorillas. After lunch, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to enjoy traditional dance, storytelling, and learn about Rwandan culture. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking & Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, go for golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park. The trek lasts about two to five hours, including an hour spent with the monkeys. After the activity, return to your lodge for lunch. Later, transfer back to Kigali City for your evening flight.
