Detailed 5-Day Rwanda Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali City & Airport Transfer
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your driver and guide will meet you. You will receive a short briefing about your Rwanda tour before transferring to your hotel. Relax, have dinner, and stay overnight in Kigali.
Day 2: City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a historical site honoring the victims of the 1994 genocide. Continue to local craft centers and Kimironko Market before having lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda, a journey of about 2–3 hours. Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Rwanda. This activity takes you through bamboo forests to find and observe mountain gorillas in their natural environment. Once you locate a gorilla family, spend one hour with them watching and taking photos. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and share your experience.
Day 4: Dian Fossey Tomb Hike & Iby’Iwacu Village Visit
After an early breakfast, begin your Dian Fossey tomb hike. The trek takes 2–4 hours through the forest to the site where the famous primatologist conducted her research and protected the gorillas. Learn about her conservation efforts and visit the gravesite of Dian Fossey and her beloved silverback gorilla, Digit. After lunch, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you can enjoy traditional music, storytelling, and cultural performances. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking & Departure
Start your morning with tea or coffee, then go to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park. The activity takes about 2–3 hours, including one hour of watching the monkeys up close.
