Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park & Evening Boat Safari
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali in a comfortable Rwanda safari vehicle. The drive to Akagera National Park takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
On arrival, enjoy a short drive through the park, where you will see different plants and animals. Check in at your lodge around midday and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, transfer to Lake Ihema for a boat cruise.
During the cruise, you will see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds such as shoebills, kingfishers, and African fish eagles. The boat safari lasts until sunset, giving you great photo moments. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in Akagera National Park. This drive gives you the chance to see the Big Five animals in Rwanda, lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos along with other wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and warthogs.
You may also spot hyenas, jackals, and primates during the drive. The early morning hours are perfect for wildlife viewing as many animals are most active at this time.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then check out and begin your journey back to Kigali. The drive takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Depending on your flight time, you may go directly to the airport for your departure.
