This 6-Day Kilimanjaro Climb follows the famous Marangu Route, also known as the Coca-Cola Route, named for the soft drinks once offered along the trek.
It is considered the easiest and most comfortable path to reach Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain standing at 5,895 meters above sea level.
The route offers scenic views of glaciers, volcanic rocks, and green forest zones. At the mountain’s base, you will pass through beautiful forests filled with primates and bird species.

Detailed 6-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up & Hike to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Meet your driver in Moshi town and transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park for a briefing at the Marangu Gate, where your 6-Day Kilimanjaro Climb begins.
After registration and briefing, start your hike through the montane forest under the guidance of a park ranger. Along the trail, look out for primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and many bird species.
The hike takes about 5 hours, with several short breaks before reaching Mandara Hut (2,700m), where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Trek to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
After breakfast, continue your climb as you move through changing vegetation zones. The lush forest gives way to heath and moorland, with views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks in the distance.
The trek lasts about 5 to 6 hours. Upon arrival at Horombo Hut, enjoy views of the Masai Steppe below. Have dinner and rest overnight.
Day 3: Acclimatization Hike to Zebra Rock & Back to Horombo Hut
Today is an acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the altitude. Take a short hike to Zebra Rock, a natural rock formation with black and white stripes resembling a zebra.
This activity prepares you for the higher elevations ahead. You can take photos and enjoy the scenery before returning to Horombo Hut for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Trek to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Start early after breakfast and trek toward Kibo Hut. The vegetation becomes sparse, and the trail passes through the alpine desert.
You will pass the last water point, located at a place called The Saddle, between Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak.
Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, have an early dinner, and rest as you prepare for the summit climb that begins around midnight.
Day 5: Summit to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descend to Horombo Hut
Wake up around midnight to start your final climb to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Use your headlamp to navigate the dark, cold trail.
Pass through caves and crater rims as you ascend slowly to avoid altitude sickness. When you reach the summit, celebrate your achievement and take photos while standing on the Roof of Africa.
After spending some time at the top, descend back to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Descend to Marangu Gate & Transfer to Moshi
After breakfast, descend through the forest back to Marangu Gate, where your climb began.
Sign out of the park register and collect your Kilimanjaro climbing certificate to mark your accomplishment. Meet your driver for the transfer back to Moshi town, where your 6-Day Kilimanjaro Climb comes to an end.
