4-Day Tour of Addis Ababa and Lalibela - Ethiopia's Rich Heritage

Day 1. Addis Ababa City Tour

Following an expedient hotel or airport transfer, we’ll begin the city tour of Addis.

Among its most well-known locations is the National Museum of Ethiopia, which is home to the borns of “Lucy,” a bipedal hominid discovered in 1974 and dates back to 3.2 million years.

Visit the Ethnographic Museum located in Addis Ababa University’s main campus for a collection of traditional and contemporary artifacts.

You’ll have delicious lunch at one of the Ethiopian cultural restaurants with a traditional coffee ceremony.

Afterward, you’ll visit one of the holiest churches of Ethiopia known as the Holy Trinity church.

Then we will view Emperor Haile Silase’s graves with the amazing painting of the church.

Later on, you’ll get to see breathtaking views of Ethiopia’s capital from Enoto.

A tour of Merkato, reputedly the biggest open-air market in Africa, will be the day’s last attraction.

Day 2. Flight to Lalibela (Eight Wonders of the World)

Morning after breakfast take a flight to Lalibela UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lalibela is known as “The New Jerusalem” because of its eight internationally recognized rock-hewn churches, which are physically carved from the rock on which they stand.

These imposing structures appear to be the product of superhuman craftsmanship in terms of scale and concept.

On arrival transfer to your Hotel for check in and then Start your exploration of the extraordinary king Lalibela’s rock-hewn cathedrals by going to the churches Bet Danaghel, Bet Golgotha, Bet Mikael, Bet Maryam, Bet Medhane Alem& Bet Meskel are located in the Northwestern Cluster.

Lastly, pay a visit to Bet Giyorgis, the most well-known church of all.

It is a massive cross-shaped monolith constructed to commemorate Ethiopia’s patron saint, St. George.

Day 3. Lalibela The Church of Yimrehane Kirstos

Proceed to Yimrehane Kirstos by car after breakfast.

The Yimrhane Kirstos cave church was constructed eight years before the Lalibela rock-hewn churches.

One of the most exquisite cave churches ever constructed, it is exquisitely adorned both inside and out with remarkable architectural skill and is constructed entirely of wood.

You may also see a large number of ancient pilgrims’ mummified remains at the cave’s rear.

Visit the Bet Abba Libanos, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Gabriel-Rufael churches in the Southeastern Cluster in the afternoon.

Day 4. Flight Back To Addis

We depart for the airport after breakfast in preparation for the Addis flight.

On arrival to Addis take time for Shopping then transfer to airport for your international departure.
