Detailed 5-Day Luxury Kidepo Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the Airport and Transfer to Kidepo National Park
Meet your assigned safari driver/guide at the airport and transfer to the nearest hotel for a light meal before starting your journey to Kidepo National Park.
During the briefing, you will receive details about the safari, then embark on the journey to the agreed destination.
Check into the booked lodge in the late evening for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive
After breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in the interior of Kidepo National Park. Drive to the lush southern part of the park, which has permanent water sources and supports a high concentration of wildlife.
Look out for animals like Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, hyenas, bush pigs, oribi, elands, and more. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Karamojong Community Tour
Start your day with an early breakfast, then set out for a morning game drive, adding to your list of wildlife sightings from previous days.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then visit the Karamojong community for a cultural experience. You’ll enjoy traditional dances, learn about their customs through stories, and see their unique housing style, known as the “Manhattan.” Afterward, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Mount Morungole Hike and Visit the IK People
Wake up early for breakfast and meet your safari driver/guide to begin the drive to Mount Morungole in the northern part of the park. This will be a full-day hike adventure on Mount Morungole.
During the hike, visit the IK people, who have a distinct way of life, unique traditions, and a language unlike any other tribe in Uganda. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a resting point before continuing the hike to IK communities. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure Back to Kampala
On this final day, enjoy an early breakfast with a choice of coffee or tea. Begin the journey back to Kampala, driving through the undulating plains of northeastern Uganda and taking in the beautiful scenery.
Continue to Kampala, and depending on your flight schedule, you’ll be dropped off at the airport for your departure home or to your next destination.
