Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Kidepo valley national park.
This journey involves taking a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kidepo valley airstrip which is within the park areas. The flight provides a quicker way to reach the park and stunning aerial views of Uganda’s diverse landscapes.
The driver will be waiting for you and once you land in Kidepo, he will pick and transfer you to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drives and Karamojong cultural tour.
After an early morning breakfast, the driver will pick you and transfer you to the starting point of your game drive. Game drives are fantastic ways to explore and experience the park’s diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Choose to do the morning game drive because this is when these animals are more active, however, there is an evening and night game drive where you are able to spot nocturnal animals.
During the game drive, you get an opportunity to see diverse wildlife species like lions, antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. You are able to get an up close encounter with these animals because the park is located within an open savannah.
During this game drives, you are also able to spot over 475 bird species making it an excellent opportunity especially for the bird enthusiast. Some of the bird are ostrich, secretary bird, Kori bustard, Abyssinian roller, Egyptian vulture, African swallow tailed kite and the eastern yellow billed hornbill. After the game drive, you can head back to your hotel and have lunch as you prepare for the Karamojong cultural experience tour.
The Karamojong tour in Kidepo national park is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditions and way of life of the indigenous Karamojong people. The Karamojong are a pastoralist ethnic group of people native to their region and a cultural tour allows you experience their customs and daily activities.
You are able to visit Karamojong homesteads and see traditional architecture, learn about their village organizations and get insights into their daily lives. Get to see their traditional dressing of clothing’s made from animal skins and beads, you get the opportunity to try out some of them.
Enjoy traditional performances like songs and dances which is an integral part of their culture, food and drinks like milk, grains, and meat, you are free to try out some local dishes which makes you get fully immersed into their culture.
You are able to learn about karamoja craftsmanship such as beadwork and the creation of traditional tools and ornaments as you interact with different people and ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of their culture and customs of their life.
After this tour, the driver will take you back to the hotel to relax, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe.
This marks the end of your amazing 3 days Kidepo valley national park flying safaris, after an early morning breakfast, the driver will take you to the boarding point to catch your arranged and booked domestic flight back to Entebbe.
