The wildebeests follow the same path every year, implying that their migration can be predicted at one point. However, it doesn’t guarantee you the exact dates since the rains don’t have a specific day or time to start showering. The rains typically stop in late November or early December, enabling the magnificent migration to take place.
This migration is usually done in shifts and groups.
These selfless species migrate when food becomes inadequate to sustain the entire wild family. The first group sets off and settles in the southeastern side of Serengeti. However, this doesn’t last long, as by April, they trek to areas near River Grumeti. The great river crossing occurs in either July or August, so visiting Africa in these months is a must not to miss this spectacular event.
The accommodations where you can rest while waiting for the wildebeest migration include Serian Nkorombo Mobile Camp, which is flexible and can be transferred from one area to another, depending on where the migration is predicted to take place.
Mara Camp offers hot showers, bathrooms with a nice scent, delicious meals with an enticing aroma, and comfortable bedding, to name a few. There is also Dorobo Mobile Camp, located in Naboisho Conservancy, offering an immersive experience.
Porini Lion Camp is in Olare Motorogi Conservancy, and Sand River Masai Mara is quite fascinating, as it provides a comfortable 4-poster bed, delicious dishes, and a veranda for you to enjoy the area.
