Pick up from your hotel in Arusha by your tour guide after breakfast, and embark on a scenic drive to the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the most visited protected areas in Tanzania.

On this day, you will undertake an afternoon game drive around the plains of Ngorongoro outside the crater, exploring Ndutu plains and areas around the Gol Mountains.

Overnight at your safari lodge.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Drive and Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Ngorongoro Crater is a world natural wonder worth exploring.

You will embark on a game drive on the floor of this massive unbroken caldera, home to about 30,000 animals, including the iconic big 5.

Explore the different habitats in the crater, looking out for hippos, black rhinos, elephants, lions, buffalos, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, impalas, waterbucks, and over 300 bird species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch within the crater at the hippo poolside and then ascend back to the crater rim, drive to your lodge for check-out, and then exit the conservation area, heading to Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

The face of Tanzania’s wilderness, home to the annual wildebeest migration, Serengeti National Park.

Spend the full day exploring the wildlife-filled plains of Serengeti.

Expect good sightings of predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, jackals, bat-eared foxes, crocodiles, and millions of ungulates, including the most common species: wildebeests, zebras, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, impalas, elands, bushbucks, klipspringers, dik-diks, and other animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, mongooses, black rhinos, hyraxes, and more. Explore the park through game drives, walking safaris, and hot air balloon safaris.

Day 4: Flight to Rubondo Island National Park

After a leisurely morning breakfast, pack your bags, and your tour guide will drive you to the airstrip to catch your domestic flight to Rubondo Island National Park in Lake Victoria, west of Serengeti National Park.

A guide will be waiting to receive you at the Rubondo airstrip to welcome you and drive you to Rubondo Island Camp, a deluxe and comfortable accommodation facility on the island.

In the afternoon, embark on a boat ride on Lake Victoria to explore the island shores and its islets.

Look out for crocodiles, otters, hippos, water birds like African fish eagles, ibises, herons, storks, and kingfishers, as well as animals on the shores like bushbucks, elephants, sitatungas, vervet monkeys, among others.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Rubondo Island National Park

Chimpanzee trekking in Rubondo Island National Park is an adventurous and thrilling experience that takes you through the dense forests of the island in search of the playful, human-like apes.

Early in the morning after breakfast, head out with your experienced guides and trackers who will help guide you to the chimpanzees.

Enjoy the different sights and sounds as you walk through the forest, and rest assured that you will hear the chimpanzees before you see them because these primates are very vocal.

Spend 30 minutes or more with the wild chimpanzees before returning to the camp for lunch.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
